I finally stepped outside and started my plein air painting season.
The bright yellow of the forsythia was calling me. This large basswood tree was damaged last year and had to be removed outside my studio. So I liked the contrast of the monumental tree trunk stump and the fluffy brilliant yellow blossoms of the forsythia hedge along side. Now that the shade of this large tree is gone the forsythia should finally grow full and healthy. My wife is going to plant the tree stumps with flowers this Spring so another painting is sure to follow when they bloom.
