"Rock Stairway To Heaven" by Larry Lerew

"Rocky Stairway To Heaven" by Larry Lerew
6" x 6" Acrylic on Archival Canvas Panel
I was making several trips down and back to York in April and this stone staircase near Harmony Grove caught my eye. That area outside of Dover, PA is full of red sandstone structures which are beautiful anytime but especially when the redbuds are blooming. This small painting is my interpretation of red rocks and red tree blossoms. They make an interesting texture contrast I think and if there was an actual stairway to heaven it should be lined with redbud trees.

Camp Hill Plein Air 2013

Just finished a week participating in Camp Hill Plein Air. Had a great time and met lots of friends.

Title: "Roving Red"
Size: 16" x 20", Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Here's another of the four paintings I painted during Camp Hill Plein Air 2013. I painted this from behind my parked car on Bridge Street in New Cumberland.

Title: "Matinee"
Size: 16" x 20", Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Saturday was the Quick Draw Painting Event. All the participating artists were given time to paint from 10 a.m. to Noon. I tried something different this time and walked around and sketched a few artists working first, then created a painting of them using two brushes, a cut up credit card for scrapping and a toothbrush for spatter. Got lots of attention, a newspaper interview and SOLD the painting before I finished it. That was a good day!
