Seeing Interesting Shapes Even In The Cemetery

Went sketching with my new friends in the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters at the Historic Lincoln Colored Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA, December 1st. Had a great time and enjoyed the company of other artists.

Found lots to sketch and compose on paper. The markers at this location were mostly civil war era and had lots of character. I tried moving things around for better variety and used overlapping and size change to show distance. I think this can be used for a great painting back at the studio. Everyone else in the group worked on paintings on-the-spot which developed nicely. This group is very dedicated about working en plein air and I enjoy their enthusiasm.
